The First Baptist Church of Hillsboro is honored to be hosting Jefferson Baptist Association’s Dorcus Ministry for 2008.
Every fourth Friday at 4:00PM, women and girls from all over the association are invited to come together for a time of
sewing, scrap-booking, studying and sharing in their fellowship hall. The Church is located at 10545 Highway 21 in
Hillsboro. The first session will be from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. The program and dinner-break will be from 6:00PM to 7:00PM
and the second session will be from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. A Bible-study video series will be presented, scrapbooking
techniques will be taught by Teresa Morris. Sewing and quilt-making will be under the guidance of Julie Norris and Virgie
Finn. The recipe sharing, cooking demonstrations and program will be presented by mission and ministry groups from
different churches each month. Bring your own scissors, supplies and a “sack-supper”. Feel free to come and go for any
of the sessions you choose.
The ladies at FBC Hillsboro continue to be on mission for Christ and are seeking to serve Him by reaching out to a lost
and hurting world. One of our state Missouri WMU Board members, Mrs. Vickie Bouska, has just felt led to join the Kenya
mission team and Hillsboro’s WMM will be helping with finances for the trip.
Providing prayer and monetary support for missions is a big part of what WMU is about within the church, learning about
and doing missions is also important. GA’s and Youth on Mission meet on Wednesday evenings and focus on missions
education and on hearing and responding to God’s call for our lives. Fellowship and relations have been strengthened
by participation in “Righteous Red-Hat Road Trips,” “Sleepless in September Slumber Parties,” “Outrageous October
Outings,”“Seasonal Shopping Soirées” and our latest potato-themed multi-generational activites: C.H.I.P.S., (Our Church
In Prayer For Students) and S.P.U.D.S., (Student Prayer Uplifting Disciples in Secret). Mission Trips to Colorado, South
Dakota and downtown St. Louis give women and youth the opportunity to focus completely, 24/7, on a mission field
“ready for the harvest” by ministering to people, one-on-one, the way Jesus himself did. Groups from the church also
regularly attend associational, regional, state and national training conferences and meetings to become better
equipped to minister to the needs of women and to more fully develop a missions life-style. Their mantra has been: “God
doesn’t always call the equipped, but He always equips the called.”
