John Lee, our Minister of Music, began studying music with the Lesters, playing his guitar and traveling at age 10. At age 16 he began teaching beginning music students for the Lesters at their music store and studios. It was during this time in 1956 that he met his future wife, Marie Crews, who also sang and traveled with her family. They married in 1957 and raised a son and 4 daughters. John studied music theory and voice at Missouri Baptist College in St. Louis, having Dr. Jack Bottoms as his teacher and mentor. John and Marie left the Lesters in the spring of 1958 when John took a position as Music Director at a local church. The Lees have been in music ministry ever since. They served for 23 years at FBC, Festus-Crystal City, MO and came out of retirement in August 2001 when they were called to lead the worship services at FBC Hillsboro along with the choir and praise team. |
