Deacons

The Deacons of First Baptist provide support to the Pastor in ministering to the needs of the congregation
and advancing the cause of Christ in the community. Following the Biblical example found in Acts, the
Deacons (the Greek word means "servant" or literally "one who raises dust") are called of God and
appointed by the Church body to look after matters that would prevent the Pastor from devoting himself to
the Proclamatin and study of Scripture and providing Spiritual leadership. From teaching Bible Studies to
visiting the sick, fixing a broken lock to singing in the choir, the Deacons help to lead the members of First
Baptist in becoming more mature Disciples of Chist.
